/ LITTLE FREE STEM LIBRARIES INSPIRE TOMORROW'S TECHNOLOGISTS

An Avnet Cares philanthropic program that started in Arizona now spans America. Today, the Little Free STEM Library project includes 12 additional cities where Avnet employees pitch in to help regularly.

Initially launched in rural Arizona in 2021, the Little Free STEM Library project began with the monthly distribution of 300 STEM kits in partnership with the SciTech Institute in Tempe, Arizona. The mission of the project was to expand access to STEM education to youths in remote areas of Arizona using Little Free Libraries. The kits deliver hands-on opportunities to young learners through monthly themed activities and they include all the needed supplies.

Since Avnet Cares became a supporter in 2022, the initiative has expanded into 12 additional cities, where Avnet employees not only assemble extra kits but also deliver them to Little Free Libraries in their local communities. Since its inception, the program has distributed over 7,000 STEM kits, and Avnet Cares has had 150 volunteers participate in the project.
